A plant and process survey is crucial to determine whether dust suppression or dust prevention is required. Most operations may require both, the outcome of the plant and process survey will be a deciding factor of the system’s overall effectiveness and efficiencies of dust control and management will be determined by whether or not the system is configured for your specific needs.

Ideal for hard park areas, stockpile sealing, and material transit sealing.
A synthetic polymer binder that forms a waterproofing layer on treated surfaces, reducing soil erosion and dust emissions. It is effective in stabilizing permanent and semi-permanent surfaces and maintaining dust control during dry seasons, and once cured does not leach.
Used on both permanent and non-permanent surfaces with high traffic volume.
Our leading bitumen-based sealant with superior dust control and waterproofing properties giving rise to a superior riding surface. It reduces water usage, enhances road stability, and prevents dust concentration increasing visibility and safety. The product remains effective regardless of climate and once cured, does not leach. Malleability of bitumen after curing makes the stabilized surface easy to repair.
Suitable for both permanent and non-permanent surfaces.
A popular bituminous sealant ideal for high trafficked surfaces. It provides excellent dust control, water savings, and all-weather durability, with less production downtime after rain and easy repairability due to the malleability of bitumen once cured.
Suitable for both permanent and non-permanent surfaces.
A bio-based bituminous emulsion designed to control dust on mine haul roads resulting in reduced gravel loss, dust levels and road maintenance. Environmentally friendly and biodegradable, it works well on steep ramps, offers excellent grip, reduces water usage, and remains stable even in harsh weather conditions.
Best suited for non-permanent haul roads and works well on steep ramps.
A non-bituminous blend of lignosulphonate and synthetic polymer that binds fine particles, preventing soil erosion and dust. Though susceptible to partial leaching, this product forms a stable, anti-skid road surface, reduces water usage, and improves traction.
Applicable on permanent and non-permanent surfaces.
A cost-effective blend of lignosulphonate and bitumen emulsions, offering partial sealing for surfaces. It reduces dust and gravel loss while providing excellent traction on steep ramps, though partial leaching may occur, surfaces are stable and can be trafficked immediately after application.
Designed for non-permanent surfaces, light vehicle roads, and stockpile dust suppression.
An environmentally friendly, non-toxic and non-hazardous lignosulphonate binder suitable for use with a variety of materials with compositions and characteristics, that binds material to prevent dust emissions and reduce gravel loss. It is susceptible to leaching and performs best in dry seasons and is easy to apply, surfaces can be trafficked immediately.
Suitable for permanent and non-permanent haul roads with high fines.
An environmentally friendly, easy to apply, surface-active agent that reduces the surface tension of water, allowing water to permeate more easily into the roadbed and prevents fines from becoming dislodged, reducing dust emissions and enhancing compaction.
Used in material handling points and high-pressure mist systems.
A surface-active agent that reduces the surface tension of water thereby improving its wetting properties, even for hydrophobic dust particles and respirable dust particles (typical particle size of less than 10micron). The product is ratio fed into the feed water supply of the high-pressure mist system to achieve the smallest size water molecules to agglomerate with airborne and/or fugitive dust particles.
Dust suppression systems (also known as misting systems) employ high pressure (50 bar) and low volume of water in the form of an atomised mist to capture dust that is already airborne and bring it back to the source through agglomeration. Dust is also prevented from traveling due to the fine mist curtain that is created around your material handling point. Dust suppression and dust prevention systems are not exclusive; many operations have both systems configured to effectively control dust. While dust prevention can be used in material handling operations, dust suppression is the preferred option, owing to low water consumption, especially in areas where water is scarce. This option also minimizes water addition to material. The technology’s effectiveness in capturing respirable airborne dust and the method’s ability to cover specific areas, results in minimal use of water and chemicals. Dust suppression is also more flexible compared to other methods of dust management as it comprises of a tailored approach. It is cheaper to install and maintain a dust suppression system compared to a dust extraction system for example. Dust suppression systems also doubles as a coolant for furnace discharge material being conveyed.
Benefits of using a dust-a-side dust suppression system:
– Reduces respirable dust
– Reduces visual dust
– Minimises water usage
– Minimises conveyor slippage
– Eliminates excessive moisture content in the material/ore
– Reduces chute/screen blockages
– Improves housekeeping standards
– Increases safe work areas during operation
There are two distinct philosophies to control dust with water during materials handling processes.
1. Low pressure (< 10 bar) and high water volume systems will be employed. This treatment
philosophy is referred to as dust prevention. The spray system will discharge water directly on the material at the beginning of the transfer point. Being low pressure, the flow of water and droplets sizes are much bigger and hence referred to as wetting systems.
Fog cannons are an effective option for dust suppression in open areas that require a large reach such as mine sites, quarries, construction sites, demolition sites and other industrial areas. Fog cannons are mobile and can be fixed on a trailer or skid and oscillate which is ideal for changes in wind direction or dust-generating activities.
Highly pressurized water is pumped through a series of jet nozzles which is dispersed through the air by a powerful fan, turning water into mist through atomisation. This effectively matches visible and respirable dust particle sizes for effective, large scale, dust suppression. Fog cannons are most popularly utilized as a mist blanket or curtain between dust generating activities and communities.
The DAS Monitoring device is a robust dust monitoring solution with a highly expandable live feedback functionality that can give a broad spectrum of data such as, wind speed, wind direction, temperature, humidity, GPS, rain metering and dust sensing (PM 2.5, PM10). All data collected is fed to an easy-to-understand web-based dashboard. The information on the dashboard can be monitored live on-site and managed off-site for reporting purposes.
This is a cost-effective dust monitoring solution, which eliminates human error and resources spent on data collection, processing, and quantification, through the provision of real-time feedback, allowing you to take proactive steps to manage dust levels.
The diagnostic evaluation of all dust-generating sources in mining and mineral processing activities aid the design, implementation, and management of dust suppression solutions. Road condition monitoring & reporting systems help prioritize maintenance schedules through live and remotely accessible data. Through continuous monitoring the quantification of the value added by these solutions are made possible.
